My WebQuest is going to be about geocide all over the world after WWII. The students have just finished Night by Elie Weisel and I found they were under the belief that nothing like this ever could occur or ever did occur again.. I would like to clear up that misunderstanding up. The following are the genocides;
Bosnia
Rwanda
Sudan(Darfur)
Cambodia (Pol Pot)
There will be four groups with 5 students in each group. The roles are as follows;
Photographer; This student will be in charge of gathering pictures of their genocide.
Videographer; This person will be in charge of videos of their genocide
Fact Finder; This person will tell us what happened and why
Witness; This person will take first hand accounts of their genocide
After the genocide; This person will tell us what is happening now in the place their genocide took place.
Using links and resources, the students will gather the material they are responsible for. Then togther the group will put togther a 10 minute presentation to the class about their genocide. All presentations must include a comparrison the WWII genocide, as told in the book Night, as well as maps, videos, pictures and the report itself. They must also come up with how they felt their genocide could have been lessened, ie more UN action, less global aphathy.
